Nature Paddle – Great Island with CT Audubon – Saturday August 22nd

Join Soulful Sojourns and Connecticut Audubon Society Staff as they lead a nature paddle around Great Island Wildlife Management Area in Old Lyme CT. Great Island is at the mouth of the Connecticut River adjoining Long Island Sound. The 431 acre island is home to Osprey, Least Terns, Common Terns, Black Skimmers and many other birds of the sandy shores and marsh. Great Island provides calm paddling narrow creeks, channels, side rivers, and coves that parallel the lower Connecticut River. We will paddle through tall marsh reeds and back channels enjoying the serenity of an August summer in Connecticut. Participants should be fit enough to be out for approximately 4 hours paddling away from access to facilities. Bring your own kayak or canoe and PFD, or rent one for an additional cost. Fee: Bring-your-own: $75 / With Rental: $95.
